NACC holds seminar to promote corruption intolerance in communities

BANGKOK, 15 January 2018 (NNT) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has held a seminar on the project titled "Strong - A Sufficient Mind That Prevents Corruption", which aims to promote intolerance towards corruption in local communities.

NACC Chairman Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit said the project is part of the third phase of the 2017-2021 national strategy to develop a proactive system to prevent corruption. The project designates "Strong Coaches" in communities to foster an anti-corruption culture and mobilize local participation by establishing "Strong Clubs", where communities endorse a charter to mobilize corruption prevention and suppression in a sustainable manner.

Pol Gen Watcharapol said that despite a decrease in corruption over the past year, Thailand loses an estimated 10-15% of its economy to corrupt practices. In order to win the war on graft, the country must cultivate a society that does not tolerate corruption. He expressed confidence that over the next few years, people will no longer dare engage in graft due to strict law enforcement.
